Other giving options include:

Memorial & Tribute Gifts:

You can honour someone with a lasting gift that will make a significant difference. A beautiful Parkwood Estate card will be sent notifying your honouree or a bereaved family that you have made this thoughtful gift in their honour.

Contributions may be made towards:

  • Parkwood’s Rose Garden ($25)
  • Orchid collection in the Greenhouse Tearoom ($50)
  • Trees on the estate grounds ($500)
  • Conservation of artifacts and art ($500)

Click here for a PDF form that you can download and print. Tribute donations may be made by cash, cheque or Visa at the Parkwood Gift Shop, Tuesday-Sunday between 1:30pm-4pm. VISA orders may also be made by calling 905-433-4311 Tuesday-Friday between 9am and 5pm. Cheques may be mailed to Parkwood Estate, 270 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa, ON, L1G 4T5.

Endowment Gifts:

There are several opportunities for donors to designate their gifts, such as with Named Endowments at $100,000. These can be designated for a special program provided annually such as a speaker series on topics like conservation of furniture, art of the 20th Century, or heritage gardens, to name a few possibilities. Other opportunities include designating gifts for the maintenance of a particular room or garden at Parkwood, or for art conservation projects.

Your gift remains intact in perpetuity and the annual interest will be used to fund the program you select. Please contact us to discuss how you can designate your gift for a special program or project that meets your interests and helps preserve Parkwood’s unique beauty and heritage.

Gifts of Securities:

New tax rules in Canada mean that donors can give generously and save paying any capital gains on appreciated securities. Donors receive a full tax credit based on the value of the securities donated. Parkwood can convert donated shares to fund a donor’s choice of much-needed restoration of our Greenhouses, educational programs, preservation of the Archives or art conservation projects at this National Historic Site. Donors of securities help preserve this treasure for the enjoyment and education of future generations while enjoying a tax benefit.

Planned Giving:

By simply adding a codicil or clause to your Will naming Parkwood Estate as a beneficiary (of a fixed amount or a percentage of your estate), you can take comfort that you will help Parkwood endure for the education and enjoyment of generations to come. Please consult your lawyer for advice.

Other Planned Giving opportunities:

  • Pledged gifts over several years
  • Naming Parkwood Estate as a beneficiary in your Life Insurance policy
  • Annuities
  • Donating tangible property of value, such as a house or fine art

Your accountant or financial planner can advise you on the benefits of each option and help you decide which is best for you.
