Are you cut out for a life in service as a grand estate gardener? Experience your first day of work as a member of a large household staff circa 1930 – and the demands of “keeping up appearances”, not just the gardens but also the lavish lifestyle of a Society owner.  Pick up a little period gossip about life in service along the way.  Comfortable attire is suggested as you will help carry out a few daily orders – perhaps pruning, weeding, watering, cutting and arranging flowers or harvesting fruit – based on the recollections of former McLaughlin gardeners.  A tea break will be taken in the Lodge, once the Head Gardener’s home, right on site.

The experience is limited to 10 people at a time, to make it fun and interactive. Lunch by the fountains in the spectacular Formal Garden is an added attraction, available at additional cost

This program is part of the Garden Voices program, being offered at heritage sites across the province of Ontario. Please visit the link for more experiences.
